Life is a gift. And as far as I can tell, we should be savoring as much of it as possible while we’re here. So, how are you doing?
If you answered with anything other than totally awesome, here are two quick suggestions that will help you start getting the most out of each and every day.
1. Do something you’re passionate about every single day.
Whatever it is, take the time to do it. It could be spending time with your family or friends, cooking a fabulous meal, reading a book, running around the block, listening to a piece of music, playing an instrument, working out, or just relaxing in quiet meditation. You know what you really love to do. And if you think about it, there’s no point in letting a day go by when you aren’t doing some of those things. Life is for living, you’re not a spectator. Be enthusiastic, have purpose, and invest in yourself by engaging in things that really do it for you.
The things that make you feel the best are the things that you were born to do. If you lose sight of that fact, you can really get yourself into a rut, and sometimes those ruts can run deep. Many people feel like they are stuck in situations that they can’t change. You may be one of them. The truth is, you can change anything and everything about your life, and it all starts with making sure you do something you love, every single day.
Another way I like to say it, especially as it pertains to your job or career, is never get so busy making a living, that you forget to make a life!
2. Think about things that make you feel good.
This one can be a game changer. It works quicker than a five hour energy drink, and can really have a sort of super-positive domino effect on the rest of your day.
Whenever you may find yourself in the midst of an unusually difficult situation, shift your focus momentarily to something that makes you happy. I do this quite often, and I think about things like my kids laughing, or of something really fun that I did last weekend. It just needs to be a thought that will stir up your emotions and remind you of how awesome life really is.
Doing this will help you get used to the incredible power you have to alter the quality of your life. You can really turn things from stressful to amazing, by simply shifting your thoughts. Thoughts create feelings and when you’re feeling groovy, it’s really hard to have a bad day. In fact, it’s damn near impossible. Now, this doesn’t mean you’ll never have a bad day…but if you learn to tap into this amazing resource of thinking about the things that make you happy, you’ll minimize your negative experiences to a point where they don’t even seem to exist.
That’s it. Every day do something you love and think about things that make you feel good. Put these two suggestions into practice and you’ll soon be living your dream life. Right where you are, right now.
