Tune Into You

I have a theory.

Okay, I have a lot of theories, but I’m thinking of one in particular right at this moment.

It has to do with attracting the right kind of people to yourself.  The kind of people that are going to have a positive influence, be constructive forces, make you a better soul, and develop into true friends.  It also has to do with being attracted to the right kind of people.  Same type of folks that were previously mentioned, only in this case, you’re actually gravitating toward them.

So here’s my theory…I believe this only happens when you are in tune with being yourself.  It happens when you stop trying to be someone else, and really get in touch with our own uniqueness.  The special gifts you have, the talents you can offer, and the amazing abilities that you possess in only the way that you can possibly possess them.

Like Ralph Waldo Emerson so famously said, “Insist on yourself.  Never imitate”.

If I were to put any extra emphasis on any particular part of that great statement, it would be on the “never” part.  Seriously, there is no good reason to ever try to be like someone else.

Now this doesn’t mean that you can’t or shouldn’t try to emulate some of the successful habits that those people who have achieved success in a way that you would like to, demonstrate on a consistent basis.  You can definitely learn from them and develop your own skills in a similar fashion.  But, don’t try to be that person, regardless of how much you respect or admire them.  Because, here’s the thing; they can’t be you, either!  You are the only one in the universe who can become the ultimate version of yourself.  And, as far as I can tell, that’s your life mission and your  ultimate purpose.

If I were to expand on my theory a little, I would say that not only do you start to attract and be attracted to all of the right people, but you also give yourself the greatest chance of becoming successful and achieving your biggest and boldest dreams when you allow yourself to simply be yourself.

These are some of the best benefits to tuning into your true calling.

You were born to be you, and when you get that part down, a whole lot of good stuff will start to come your way.

Just a theory…

  1. I am not sure if this is a corollary or a required theorem to your exposition…
Examine the five closest friend you have. They are reflections of you. If you are not happy with some of the attributes, then fix that part of you!

Amen Brother! Thanks for sharing your theory.
I found your post through #blogboost.

I suppose then that if you find yourself out of sync and unhappy with the people that you are in contact with, it could mean that you are not living as YOU, but as what you think you are supposed to be? Interesting.
    Much food for thought here.

  3. Enjoyed your post, Mike! Sometimes it takes a while to summon the courage to be one’s self, yet when one steps over that line they revel in the discovery of who they are.

    Ahh…that it were mathmatical, right?
Regardless of how you categorize the formula, you’re absolutely right!
What a great perspective and extremely valuable way to examine yourself, and make the necessary adjustments.
    I love it.
    Thanks for the comments

    Michelle –
I’m so glad you found the blog!
Yes, it is food for thought, indeed.
I agree that it could mean living how you think you’re suppose to live, or perhaps it’s just sort of moving along, not entirely aware of the process.
I really believe that life has a wonderful way of revealing all of the right resources to us when we are in step with who we were meant to be.
We just have to be conscious!
    I appreciate your comments.
    Take care,
