The Law of Attraction Made “Easy”

Anytime that someone promises to make something sound easy for you, it usually means one of only two things; either it’s really, really hard and they’re just trying to soften the blow or it’s not being explained often enough in such a way that it can be understood and practiced effectively.

In the case of the law of attraction, it is the latter scenario that prompted this writing.

While there is a lot of information out there that certainly can benefit you regarding the law of attraction  if you can get your hands on it, there is also a lot of material out there that leaves most people with a real empty feeling inside.  Typically, those who are exposed to the teachings of the law in the wrong way end up not really sure if they even believe that the universal principle exists at all.

It’s important to note that whether or not you or I choose to believe in the law of attraction, it does exist and it is working all of the time and for everyone.

The law is as old as mankind itself and it has always functioned perfectly.  It is a biblical principle (you reap what you sow) and it is a physical law.  It’s as perfect from a spiritual standpoint as it is scientific.

But it’s not necessarily as easy a concept to explain as say, the law of gravity.  You see, gravity doesn’t have a mental aspect to it.  Our thoughts, emotions, intentions, visualizations, and our inspired actions do very little to effect the outcome of a random act of gravity.  Just pick up an object and then release it.  It falls.  Every time.  Not much to it on the surface, and it is something that we as humans have come to accept without reservation.  None of us could necessarily stand up in front of a crowd and explain it, but we’re all very comfortable knowing, as the song says, that “what goes up must come down”.

The law of attraction can be explained, but the only way that you begin to see it clearly in your own life is by understanding and applying certain principles. Much like walking or riding a bike is taking control over gravity, having a clear understanding of the steps to manifesting results in your life, and applying them properly allows you to take control over the law of attraction.

The first step to achieving anything you want with the law of attraction is to become absolutely clear as to what it is you are trying to attract.  What is it that you want? Who is it that you want to be?  Where is it that you want to go?  Ask yourself what it is you are trying to achieve, and come up with a clear answer.  Then write it down.  Be specific.  If you want to make an additional amount of money in the next six months, or if you want to reach a particular position in your company, or if you want to be in business for yourself by your next birthday…whatever it is, be very specific and make sure that you keep the written goal in a place where you can read it once in a while.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate” – Carl Jung

You have to become conscious of your goal.  It has to be something that you understand and can think about very clearly.

The second step in theprocess is to believe that you can absolutely have whatever it is you are wanting.  You must see yourself as both worthy and deserving of your heart’s desire.

Now this is a step that some start to feel a little guilty about, but I can assure you there is nothing negative about being worthy of you own dreams and goals.  Your capacity to imagine something is in direct proportion with your ability to attain it.  Basically, if you can dream it, you can do it!

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you are right” – Henry Ford

Feeling guilty or selfish about this is one of the natural results of our minds having been infiltrated with negative thoughts and ideas of limitation our entire life.  It seems noble on the surface to consider that there are so many out there who do not have the good things in life, and so we lose the ability to focus on all of those things that we ourselves do want.  The question that always comes to my mind though is this one, “how can I possibly do anything positive about anyone else’s situation if I am stuck in the same place that they are?” Think about it…

This belief in yourself may take some effort;  you may have to keep reminding yourself that you are worthy and deserving until the feeling starts to take hold. Here’s something that might help in a real significant way; just imagine the things that you will be able to do for yourself and all of those you care most about once you have the time and resources to do it.  Imagine how you will be able to reach out and help those less fortunate once you have attained the life of your dreams.  Get in touch with the way that feels, and stay there!

Next, you have to visualize your end result, and you have to be able to associate some feeling with that vision.  The life blood of any worthy thought is a sizzling emotion.

See it and feel it.

I have heard it said that when you are visualizing, only and always see the end result.  This means that you don’t have to get caught up in trying to figure out how everything is going to happen.  Don’t try to piece together perfect scenarios that you can imagine…let all of that go, and just see yourself having accomplished your goal, living your dream, and being in that place at the end of the journey.

Anyone who has ever accomplished anything worthy will testify that they were able to see themselves doing it before it ever happened.  Think of the athletes that you have heard 0f speaking after they have won championships;  they talk about how they had imagined the moment since they were very young. And that is the exact formula!  Something else they did was feel a certain way while they were imagining.  When you’re a kid and you fantasize about hitting the game-winning home run in the World Series, you feel like you’re on top of the world.  You need to attach a feeling of unbridled and youthful  joy to whatever vision you have in your mind as an adult as well.  And you should get quiet and go through this exercise at least a couple of times a day.  See yourself there…feel yourself there.

The third step to take in order to start seeing some real tangible results in your life via the law of attraction is the one that often eludes people.  It is also one of the steps that is so often left out of what would otherwise be a great lesson on manifesting your perfect life.  And that step is to take inspired action.

If you have followed the rest of the formula to this point then you have already set a clear intention of what it is you want.  Your goal is written down and it is specific.  You believe that you are worthy and deserving of this goal…after all, it is your heart’s desire.  And now you can visualize yourself in a place where you have already achieved it,  and you feel fantastic!  It is literally your dream come true.  If you are at this point in the process then you will start to feel and think a certain way.  You will have new thoughts that pop into your head and more than likely you will have an idea of where you need to go or who you need to see or what you need to read in order to put your plan in motion.  It’s nothing that you are going to force, you will just be nudged in a particular direction.  And that is your spirit and your essence telling you to take action!  Not just action for action’s sake, but the kind that comes once you have been inspired.  There is a Japanese proverb that I love:

“Vision without action is a daydream.  Action without vision is a nightmare”

But you already have that vision, and you are totally inspired at this point.  So now, I like to say that all you need is to “get up off of your inspiration” and DO something!  And this action you take will lead you to the next action, and the next opportunity, and the next resource.  In fact, it will do this in such an amazing and magical way that you may be tempted to think it would have happened anyway.  But the truth is, without the direction and control that you have taken, it would never have come together in the perfect way that it will once you are lined up with who you are truly suppose to be.

Lastly, you need to let go and allow.  Frankly, this step is one that confuses many people and so, much like taking action, it is often not applied.

To “let go” is to have patience and faith.  It’s knowing that your best result will ultimately manifest and knowing that the timing will be perfect for you.  It is really accepting in your mind that there is a greater good, specific to your life, that is going to play out.  You can repeat this mantra to yourself:  “I am ready to accept this or something even better in my life”.  The more that you can leave open to God or the universe and the less you try to figure out how the pieces will fit together, the better.  This is why it’s called “letting go”.  There is a great confidence and peace that will be found in surrendering to your higher source.

Patience is huge.  Don’t confuse it with having to wait years and years for results, though.  It truly is just a matter of being disciplined enough to allow Divine timing to work in your life.  And if you can understand that everything may not be as it seems, then you may find something you thought would take forever to materialize comes together in a very short time.  After all, time is merely an illusion, if we are to believe Einstein.

There’s a great verse from the Bible in Luke 21:19 that says, “In your patience possess ye your souls” (King James version).

I like to say that when you are willing to exercise infinite patience, is often when immediate results start to occur.  Think that one through…

And that’s really it.

You have within yourself all of the resources necessary to become whatever it is you want to become, you just have to tap into them and let your heart and your passion be your guides.  Life was meant to be an amazing, abundant journey in all aspects, and the law of attraction can be something that you use to for greatest benefit, and to achieve your highest calling.

I guess “easy” may not be the best way to describe it.  How about “really super cool”?  We’ll go with that.

Action is necessary but its the last step before you begin to take action. You must know exactly what you desire.(want & need send the wrong signals).

Charles – thanks for the post.
Yes, being absolutely clear as to what you desire is actually the first part of the process. I always think it’s crucial to define it and write it down. Of course, as your situation begins to manifest you may find ways to modify your intentions as well.

“Desire” and “want” are pretty much the same thing; and are defined as such in the dictionary. “Need” to me would be most associated with you highest calling or greater good, as I have written.

And action is absolutely necessary. I usually list it last, but “allowing” is something that is technically done before, during, and after you take your inspired action. It is really interchangeable and the glue that holds it together!

    Take care

  3. Mike, bravo, regarding your explanation of the Law of Attraction. I’m a Life Coach who incorporates the Law in every aspect of my work. I’d like to add a few words to those folks out there for whom ‘trying to talk themselves into feeling worthy’ simply doesn’t work:

Before we can create an energetic field that will allow what we ask for to be received, we must clear the negativity (judgment, anger, resentment, guilt, shame, etc.) toward ourselves and others. Most of us cannot simply talk ourselves into doing that.

Forgiveness work of the sort that I practice and coach -Radical Forgiveness -is a way to get the job done. It will help clear our energetic field so that the objects of your desire (which already exists because you asked for them) can easily come to you by following the rest of Mike’s advice in this post. Example: Think of our negative thoughts and the thoughts of our objects of desire as being in separate planes on a runway. Each plane wants to take off. The Negative thoughts are in the first plane. Until that plane with the negative thoughts is up, up, and away from you, the second plane can only hang around and wait.

Thanks for allowing me to post…

    Hi Brenda –
Thanks so much for reading and for your insightful comments.

This post was written to outline the law of attraction, and typically what I will do is address specific details in subsequent posts, or as responses to questions or comments I receive from my readers.

And without question, when I blog on such an important topic in an abridged manner, I run the calculated risk of leaving something out, so I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

I love the fact that you are committed to helping people forgive themselves and get clear from their negative thoughts, allowing them to then truly love themselves and feel worthy – what an awesome practice!

Limiting beliefs and negative thoughts are like that luggage that costs us all an extra $50 when we check in at the airport…very heavy and very costly! Releasing the negative beliefs and replacing them with positive ones is the key to becoming clear, understanding our true selves and realizing our goals.

    Great stuff!
    All the best

  5. Hi Mike,

    Great post!

For the last couple of years I have practiced “inspired action”. And almost every time I follow my inspiration, magic happens!

But it takes some courage to “let go” of wanting to plan everything etc. and act a bit more reactive, meaning acting in each moment out of inspiration…

    C ya,
    Claus

Thanks Claus, and congrats to you!

Yes, it certainly takes courage and also an unwavering faith to let go. And you are right, if you an do that and act accordingly, there is magic that happens!
