Control Freak
You can react to any situation any way that you choose. You can cry at a wedding or laugh at a funeral. It's really up to you. Once you realize this and start to put it into practice, it will empower you beyond belief. In fact, it may be the single most valuable life lesson that exists, if it were possible to rank such things. Not so you can start making scenes at memorial services, but so that you can demonstrate to yourself that outside circumstances and other people have no inherent right to dictate your mood, attitude, or to [...]
You Better Believe It
Achieving you dreams. It sounds awesome, doesn't it? I think a lot of us get hung up on the whole dream part though, and we figure that the perfect life we imagine is well beyond our reach. We act as if it exists only as a fantasy with no real chance of actually manifesting in this lifetime. If you have taken the time to clearly define exactly what you want in your life like I talked about in the last post, then you are ready for the next step. And the next step is one that sounds simple, but it takes focus and persistence. The [...]
You Want To Do WHAT?
Alrighty then...let's get into this whole idea that any of us can be successful and achieve our dreams, with a simple 4 step formula. I opened this up in the post Permanent Vacation, and I said that I would break out the 4 steps based on the great feedback that I was getting from all of you, so I'll start by elaborating a bit on Step 1... (If not, do that NOW…so this set up will be more meaningful to you) You start at the top of your list: Lose that last 15 pounds Eat better Spend more time with my family Don’t [...]
Permanent Vacation
PVTS is something you probably haven't heard of. I'm saying that because I actually made it up. I consider it to be a very serious condition that seems to affect nearly every adult American every single year. It often has no symptoms and can begin to consume seemingly happy and healthy people as quickly as any disease in the history of the world. Characteristics of this horrible ailment include a lack of energy and motivation, half-heartedness in every endeavor, boredom, non-production, a yearning for the recent past, and an [...]
Success by Association
I was talking with a good friend of mine named Kevin this past week and he was telling me about his plans to pursue a project that has been consuming him for some time. He has a burning desire to help children. Homeless kids, hungry kids, sick kids, orphanages, etc. He really has an outstanding vision and is committed to making a difference in the world. The only words I could think of as he told me of his plans were, "awesome, dude!" Me, of the limited vocabulary… First off, I thought it was incredible that he was basically [...]
