Right Here, Right Now

One of the most miraculous and wonderful things about this life, is that you can be or do anything you wish to be or do.

Now, what really gives that idea power and makes it truly liberating for you, is that you can get started on whatever it is you wish to accomplish right now.  Right where you are, regardless of your circumstances.

That’s the beauty of it all!

No matter where you are, you can begin to change your situation and begin to move in the direction of whatever it is you wish to achieve.  It may not happen overnight, in fact I would say that it’s highly unlikely you would accomplish your grandest dream in only 8 short hours, but it can happen, and if you are willing to do whatever it takes and not quit, it will happen!  In perfect time.

There are a lot of amazing and intelligent teachers, writers, and speakers out there who will tell you that you can literally have anything that you can conceive and believe, and you really can.  Most of them don’t actually tell you how you can do this; when telling their own stories, they sort of fast-forward past the part where they were homeless or out of work and pick it up again after they made their first million dollars.  Inspiring, sort of…but really it kinda leaves you in the dark.  Especially if you’re in a really lousy situation.

Now, what is incredibly encouraging to note, is that most, if not all successful people, started in a less-than-flattering situation, and many experienced lots of failure before they were finally able to break through.

That really speaks to this truth: You can start from wherever you are.

I came across the Berton Braley poem “Start Where You Stand” tonight, as I was navigating around the internet looking for ideas to supplement my thoughts.  So, I’m going to post it here for you to read.  It may sound elementary when you first read it, but give the words the chance to digest.  It really dives into the idea that you can begin in the here and now, regardless of circumstance, and regardless of past mistakes or short comings.  And it does so in a very meaningful way.  I would challenge you to read it until it speaks to you.  And then I would challenge you to begin right now pursuing whatever it is you have been putting off, but know that you need to do.  If you’re ready to change your life, it only happens when you begin to start the process of change yourself.  Make it happen.  Right here, right now.

Start Where You Stand

Start where you stand and never mind the past,

The past won’t help you in beginning anew,

If you have left it all behind at last,

Why that’s enough, you’re done with it, you’re through.

This is another chapter in the book,

This is another race that you have planned,

Don’t give the vanished days a backward look,

Start where you stand.

The world won’t care about your old defeats,

If you can start anew and win success,

The future is your time, and time is fleet,

And there is much of work and strain and stress.

Forget the buried woes and dead despairs,

Here is a brand new trial right at hand,

The future is for him who does and dares,

Start where you stand.
