Lucky You

“With a little luck, we can help it out

We can make this whole damn thing work out”

-lyrics from “With a Little Luck” by Paul McCartney

Without question, in my mind, there are lucky people who walk among us.  They are the luckiest of the lucky and they seem to glide right into great opportunities with the ease that the rest of us use to breathe.  And, there are also unlucky people out there.  The kind of people who couldn’t catch a break with a baseball mitt.  In fact, if it weren’t for bad luck, they’d have no luck at all…

So how about you, which category do you fall into?

With apologies to Clint Eastwood and his classic character “Dirty” Harry Callahan…you better ask yourself one question, “Do you feel lucky?”

If you don’t, or if luck seems to be one of those things that has avoided you for most of your life, it’s time that all of that changed!

I guess before I go any further I should let you know how I have come to define luck.

To me, luck is that wonderful thing that happens when preparation meets opportunity.  It’s like magic, but on a much more practical level.  It’s really the perfect combination of the open-minded, limitless thinker, who is prepared and open to all possibilities, who collides with a brilliant idea or an amazing circumstance.

So really, you could be walking around lucky right now, and not even know it!

The truth is, any of us can be as lucky as we have ever imagined.  And that includes YOU!  The key to all of it is to become conscious of what is happening around you.

There are limitless possibilities that are floating around for you, and they are there for the taking, all the time!  It’s a regular 24/7 operation that the universe has going on.  You just have to come to that point where you are aware of this, and you have to be mentally prepared to jump at the chances when you recognize them.

Remember, fortune favors the bold.  And the bold have to be awake!

A lot of people have the mindset that each of us only get a limited number of opportunities in our lives to be great or to accomplish the amazing.  They really set a negative trap for themselves, which is difficult to break free from.  The belief is that if you don’t take advantage of one of these few chances to do something wonderful, you are then subject to a life much less amazing, and much more at the mercy of everyone and everything else around you.  Basically, you miss your destiny and are forced to be the back up singer for everyone else’s song.

I think that’s a bunch of bullshit, myself.

I truly believe with all of my heart that you have an endless amount of opportunities around you.  And, like I said before, they are there all the time!  What I do know is that you have to be conscious of them, and you have to be prepared to take advantage of them.

So the question then becomes, how do you prepare?

You read.  You study.  You talk to people who have done amazing things.  You surround yourself with positive and successful people.  You start doing the things you are most passionate about in your life.

If you cant associate with positive and successful people, then look them up on line and listen to them talk, lecture, teach, coach…

If you’re stuck in a dead end, lousy, mindless job that you hate, but because you need to make enough money to keep the lights on, you have no time to do whatever it is you’re most passionate about all day….sneak away and do it at night, or on your lunch break, or whenever you have a spare moment.   Just start making yourself feel good.  Put energy and effort into the thing that you were born to do.

If you don’t know what you were born to do…start thinking about it.  Meditate on it.  Ask God or your Higher Source for some guidance.  Ask yourself what it is that you really love to do.  The answer is in there.  I guarantee it.

Do whatever you have to do to be prepared to take advantage of the circumstances that play out before you.

You can literally accomplish anything  that you set your mind to.

And as sure as you are reading this post right now, when you accomplish something amazing and wonderful in your life, all of your friends will look at you and say, “I can’t believe you did that.  You’re so lucky!”  (They might even say that kind of stuff behind your back…and if they do, that’s okay!)

It’s time for you to be one of the lucky ones.

So wake up, and fasten your seat belt…the ride gets pretty fast and remarkable from here…
