Starting Point
I was having a great conversation the other day with someone about achieving success at a very high level in life. We talked about the diversity of all the people who have achieved mammoth success in this life. Some have been college grads and other dropped out of high school; some have been women and some have been men; some have come from money and some from poverty. Indeed if you go digging, you'll find that there aren't many similarities on the surface when you start to compare the successful people throughout history. There [...]
Lose the Jacket!
Comfort zones are sort of like straitjackets for the soul. I just made that one up. But if you think about it, it's true... There's nothing more confining and limiting than remaining in the same spot in life, doing the same things, and being the same person, over and over and over. And all because it's comfortable. The classic definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, right? And of course, the classic fashion statement for the insane person is the straitjacket. At [...]
Make Time for Play Time
I heard a great commercial on the radio today. So great that I couldn't wait to get home tonight and blog about it! It was talking about taking better care of ourselves as adults, and how we might stay younger much longer. The advice was some of the best I've ever heard. It recommended that we take a cue from our children, and...are you ready for this? Get out and play! That's right, the advice for all of us grown ups was to lighten up, get out there and have some freakin' fun! It talked about how good we would feel if we threw [...]
Believe it or Not
I heard someone say the other day that there are really only three possible answers to anyone's genuine prayer. They said the answer is either "Yes", "Not Yet", or "There's Something Even Better". I really think that's the best way I had ever heard this concept described. I think it's exactly right. And its also incredibly empowering. No matter your perspective on prayer or asking, you have to love the idea that is being presented here. It seems to echo the Biblical principle that you will receive whatever you ask for, if you [...]
Jailbreak
"So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains, And we never even know we have the key" - lyrics from "Already Gone" by The Eagles One of the most liberating things you can ever do for yourself is acknowledge that you, and you alone, are ultimately responsible for your life. It can be like the wake up call that starts the most incredible day of your life. And the day that starts the journey toward everything you have ever dreamed of... This is not to say that there haven't been many influences on you, or that [...]
Easy Rider
If you want to use the law of attraction to manifest your greatest life, here's all you have to do: First, be totally clear as to what you want to manifest. Next, make sure that your end goal is the dominant thought that you hold in your conscious mind (but remember, your subconscious mind actually has more control that you are aware)...don't focus on or think about what you don't want...then, clear out any negative or limiting thought patterns or beliefs that you may or may not even know you have...visualize the end result clearly in [...]
Believe In You
I found a short but great inspirational poem about believing in yourself that I thought I'd share. You may have read it before, but even if you have, take a look at it again and see if you can pick up anything that you may have missed. If you haven't read it, soak it up and see how it speaks to you. It was written by Lili Dauphin and she was obviously inspired when she wrote it. Believing in yourself is a requirement if you're going to experience growth and achievement in your life in any truly meaningful way. I was having a great [...]
Learn To Unleash
So what are we suppose to do when we get frustrated? After all, it happens to every single one of us. Yes, even the positive minded. If you are pushing forward in life and are committed to learn and grow, sooner or later you're going to get somewhere you've never been and it's going to be like hitting a wall. Frustration can come at us from all angles. When we don't achieve a desired result in the time table we expected it to materialize, it aggravates us. We might also get flustered because we don't have a frame of reference [...]
What, Why, When and How
It's really cool to think that you can actually manifest your own reality! The idea that changing your dominant though patterns can actually help you begin to create a new life is a pretty awesome and exciting. And it's true! It's also really hard. No, I'm not trying to be a party pooper, but the truth is, manifesting a life of abundance takes more than just a few good thoughts and some catchy affirmations. It requires great focus, commitment, faith and above all else, a meaningful understanding of how the whole process actually [...]
It’s in the “Can”
I'd like to suggest that you remove a word from your vocabulary. The word is "can't". My kids know that the word "can't" is not acceptable in our house. And they love it. You should make it unacceptable in your house, too. Kids or not. We decided to throw it out years ago and I will tell you it has made a tremendous difference in all of our attitudes and self confidence. When you shift your perspective from focusing on the way you may have always done things (or not done things) and start to see that possibilities exist all [...]
Some Wise Words
There are a whole bunch of motivational poems that have been passed down through the years. Some of them are extremely well written and will almost surely inspire you every time you read them. There are many that I run across which I feel the need to read over and over, soaking up the wisdom and inspiration that they offer. You've probably heard me say many times before, that when you read a great poem, it's really important to take the time to reflect on what you have read. Think about the meaning behind the words and challenge [...]
Good Choices
I love to remind people that the best part about a bad day is that they don't have to have one. Sounds a little nuts, I know...but hear me out. Good days or bad days are both the result of the choices that we make about them, before they ever start. You and I are the masters of our own attitudes. We can make the conscious decision to have a good day, and we can do it each and every day if we want to. And as such, we really don't have to experience a bad day unless that is something we decide you want to experience. Okay, it's [...]
Uncover Your Fears
Limitations are like The Boogeyman, they only exist if we believe in them. In fact, if we would refuse to acknowledge any limitations in our lives, we could do anything we wanted to do. We would literally amaze and astound ourselves. Quite often however, because of our own limiting beliefs, instead of being astounding, we end up paralyzed by fear. And we don't make any significant progress in our lives. We don't dare challenge ourselves and we don't even come close to pushing our boundaries or expanding our experiences. Very much [...]
Has LOA left you DOA?
The law of attraction gets a lot of press these days. It's a principle of nature that has existed since the beginning of time, at least as far as any of us can tell, but it really seems to have grown in popularity over the past few years. The law basically operates like this: Your life is the result of your most dominant thought patterns. Like attracts like and so whatever you focus on most (consciously or subconsciously) is what is attracted to you. You also become attracted to it. Sounds pretty simple on the surface, right? And [...]
