For Medicinal Purposes

For Medicinal Purposes

Everyone is looking for the wonder drug.  The one that you can take at any time and in any situation and which will make things better almost instantly. Everyone...you're search is over! I know what the wonder drug is and I am pleased to announce that I will be sharing it with everyone at no charge.  Are you interested? It's actually been around for a while and has been dubbed "the best medicine" by many. You guessed it, it's laughter. No matter what is going on in your life right now, I would challenge you to break out into [...]

Burgers, Fries and Wide Eyes

Burgers, Fries and Wide Eyes

You know that I often write about my kids.  The reason I do so much is because they have become a constant source of inspiration for me to the many wonderful lessons of life that we miss if we only pay attention to the grown ups! I was having the dinner the other night with my family on Main Street in the quaint little city of Seal Beach, California.  We like quaint, we like beaches, and we like California...so it worked for us! Anyway, the kids were served their fabulous meals in cardboard cars that were doubling as platters.  My [...]

You’re The One

You’re The One

I thought I'd look around the web at some poetry as I was sitting here carefully trying to direct my thoughts into enough posts to successfully finish the 30 Day Blogging Challenge... I found a really cool one that is attributed to one of my favorite writers of all time..."anonymous".  If you haven't read any of anonymous' stuff, I suggest you check it out.  Okay, that wasn't as funny as I thought it would be.  But really, it seems to me that some of the best stuff that's out there is in the form of thought and is credited to no one.  [...]

Quick Challenge

Quick Challenge

Okay, see if you can find two things around you at this very moment that are the result of some sort of miracle in your life. This isn't a timed challenge, so you can relax a bit.  It's designed to be more of an eye opener for you, and I hope it ends up making a big difference in your life. I have found that sometimes the simplest things can have the biggest impact, and when I am quiet and reflective, I often find the most inspiration.  I'm pretty sure you'll experience the same thing.  You only need to invest the time and try it.  [...]

Let’s Do This!

Let’s Do This!

So, I need to post 16 more times to this blog, after this one, in the next 11 hours in order to complete the 30 Blogs in 30 Days Challenge.  If you haven't been reading lately, the reason I find myself in such a terrific hole, is that I have been in the process of moving for the last two weeks, and for about a week and a half of that time was completely off line. So, after having finished the 30 Day Challenge in my first attempt, I now find myself in a pickle as I try to make it two in a row. The 30 Day Challenge is one that has been [...]

Mother’s Day Tribute

Mother’s Day Tribute

It's impossible to express the thanks to our mothers to the degree that they deserve it.  Moms are just the greatest people on the planet.  It's as simple as that. Of course I wanted to post and say Happy Mother's Day to my own mom, who throughout my life has always been there, always cared, and continually provided a foundation of security, love, forgiveness, and support that is unmatched in this universe. I also want to say Happy Mother's Day and a huge thank you to my wonderful wife, who has made our home the greatest place on [...]

Out of Touch?

Out of Touch?

I wonder if it's still possible for me to complete the 30 blogs in 30 days challenge...? I started off in fine shape, posting 7 blogs in the first 9 days (about my usual pace), but then found myself in a bit of transition. For the last two weeks I have been in the process of moving, and, as frightening as this may sound, was actually off line during most of that time...EEEEK! Just so you know, if you have yet to wander away from the internet for any extended period of time...it isn't as bad as you might think.  Well, unless you're in [...]

Late Bloomer

Late Bloomer

Have you ever been up really late at night and come up with what you thought was an absolutely brilliant idea?  Something you were going to do or say or start? Then, in the morning, you wondered how you could ever have imagined such a thing, so you decide not to pursue it? Come on, I can't be the only one! Well, whether I am or not, I'm going to write my thoughts about it... As best I can tell, those late night sessions when we are operating in a state that we might typically refer to as delirium, are really inspiration at it's [...]

Raise Them Up

Raise Them Up

I was cruising around the internet today, reading some wonderful poems and I stumbled across something that I had not read before.  I thought it was pretty amazing, as it caused me to feel several emotions as I was reading.  It was written by author Diane Loomans. It's about raising a child, but also about living a meaningful life. A few months ago, I wrote a six-part series on teaching kids the power of positive.  If you didn't get a chance to read those, and would like to, please check them out and feel free to leave your [...]

30 Blogs, One More Time

30 Blogs, One More Time

Have you ever taken on a task that you thought was maybe just a little bit of a stretch for you and that you might not be able to accomplish? It may have even been something that you thought would be good for you, but you just weren't convinced it could be done.  But you did it anyway!  Have you ever done that? If you have, then you know it can teach you a thing or two about persistence, and that you can learn a little about yourself as well. I decided to tackle such an endeavor about three months ago when I enthusiastically entered [...]

You Wanna Be a Miracle?

You Wanna Be a Miracle?

I'm a big fan of Jim Carrey.  I'm also a big fan of Morgan Freeman.  They are two of my favorite actors, and for different reasons. Jim Carrey is incredibly talented and always manages to make me laugh.  He has even inspired me to develop an Ace Ventura persona  that I break into around my kids sometimes.  "Alrighty, then!" Morgan Freeman is just a great actor.  And perhaps the king of the movie narrators.  I once joked that if a movie were ever made about my life, I would want Morgan Freeman to narrate it. In any event, I [...]
