The Best Kind of Bold
Sometimes it seems like arrogant people are more bold, doesn't it? And it sure feels like those conceited, ruthless, greedy people are a lot more powerful than the rest of us, right? (I'm assuming of course you're not one of the conceited, ruthless or greedy people I'm referencing). Sure, they can be louder in social settings, and they are truly adept at putting other people down, often in front of their peers. But the truth is that the loud, obnoxious, cocky, and entitled among us are really cowards. Weaklings cleverly disguised as [...]
Back in the Saddle
Wow. It doesn't seem like I've been gone too long. But, as I'm typing away on my laptop, soaking in a warm southern California evening, I realize that I haven't posted a blog in almost five full months. I've had the great fortune of staying in touch with many of you via Facebook, Twitter, through text messages and e-mails, but STILL....it seems pretty insane that the last time I was here it was three weeks before Halloween... In any event, I'm back, and I plan on posting a little more often than every five months. Thanks to [...]
Do You Hear That?
I wanted to share something really cool with you tonight. My son is featured in the new inspirational video by Dex Elliott Sanders, for his song, "Heard a Voice", and I'd love for you to check it out. Here's the video link: HEARD A VOICE Besides being proud of my son, I think it's really a great song and a powerful video. I hope that you'll watch it and perhaps even leave a comment for Dex or show your support by "liking" it. I really think it's important that we share the great work of others who are out there following their [...]
Possibly Anything
I sometimes find myself searching the internet for motivational or inspirational poems that I can share with you here. Tonight I found one that's pretty cool, and which I had never read before. It's attributed to that world famous author we've all come to know and love, Unknown. Sometimes it's better that way, since you never really know if the right person is getting credit for saying wonderful things. Regardless of who wrote it, the words are certainly inspirational. And I hope that they move you and motivate you to do something [...]
Take Two
Okay, here are 2 things you should start doing every single day. The payoff for you will far exceed the effort it takes to get started, and if you make these things habits, your life will be more amazing than you thought possible. They're simple things, and yet they can add energy and meaning to every single day that you're around. How cool does that sound? It's true. Here's the short list: 1. Laugh If you only get one thing from this post, make sure it's this one. Take the time to laugh every single day. It really is the [...]

Just Add E
Just add water. Are there three sweeter words in a "how to prepare" list anywhere on the planet? I don't think so. It's like magic! All you do is take the powdery stuff in the pouch, pour it into a bowl, and just add water. You're home free. In this sense, water becomes even more amazing than you already thought it was. It becomes the Super Ingredient that makes all of the other ingredients contained in their various cans, bags, and boxes come to life. What if I told you there a was a Super Ingredient for your life [...]
It’s Time to Get Your Positive ON!
Everybody needs a little positive mojo in their life. Even the most optimistic among us can use encouragement each day. Let's face it, the world can be a pretty negative place sometimes. You may be one of those optimistic people who make the conscious decision each day to be positive. If you are, I think that's awesome, and I say congrats to you! You might also stay focused on your goals most of the time. If so, again, I say to you, I love it! However, in the same breath, I would also tell you that you still need some of that [...]
Three Simple Things
I'll tell you about three things you could do every day that might make your experience here on the planet a little more enjoyable. You certainly don't have to do these things. Just because they work for me, doesn't mean they'll work for you, right? After all, we're all on a different part of the path, we're all at a different place in the journey, and we're all unique. The things that one person finds to be extremely effective in moving themselves to the next level may not be exactly what the doctor ordered for someone else. I get [...]
Alzheimer’s A to Z
Without question, one of the most painful experiences of my life was watching my grandma slowly die from Alzheimer's Disease. Many of you who read the blog have read my posts about my grandma, and if you have, you know what an amazing individual she was, and how much influence she had on my life. I can't possibly say those things enough or in enough ways to ever do her justice, so I'm going to rant again...just a little bit. My grandma was one of the most vibrant and wonderful people who has ever lived. She was full of light and [...]
Your True Best Friend, Within
How much quality time do you spend with yourself each day? Think about it before you answer. I mean, look, you're always there for you. I just can't help but wonder if you're really take advantage of that. Everywhere you go, you're right there with yourself...everything you think about, you're thinking about, it too. You follow you around like a shadow, waiting to help, whenever you give you the chance. Do you trust yourself? Would you go to yourself for advice? Do you love yourself? Do you respect yourself? Your life [...]
Life’s a Beach
I've found that life is significantly more fun, when I'm doing fun fun stuff. That's not a very deep thought, I know, but I was reminded of this simple truth this weekend. The family decided that we were going to take off down the coast, hit the beach for an entire day, have a great meal together and then shack up in a hotel somewhere instead of driving home. So, we took off. We left laptops, video games, and cell phones behind (well, okay, the cell phone were in the car) and headed for the Pacific Ocean. Now, the funny thing is, [...]
Parental Guidance
Here's one for the parents. As I was writing for my blog this evening, I was outside enjoying a beautiful southern California evening, and watching the kids play in the pool. I am always moved when I hear my kids laughing and enjoying themselves. They are real characters, too. I consider myself lucky to be able to share in their lives, and I take the responsibility of being dad as serious as a big kid at heart can possibly take it. Inevitably, and no matter how hard I try not to be sappy, I always end up waxing sentimental when I [...]
Travel Plans
It's all about the journey, right? That is such an easy thing to say and such a seemingly tough one to actually live. But hey, at the end of the day, it's the truth. We'll never be perfect. In fact, if we ever get to that point where we think we've arrived, we are destined to stop learning and growing. And you know what that means... (see "If you're not growing, you're dying") So, in spite of the ups and the downs, I believe it serves all of our best interest to buy into this idea that life is truly all about the [...]
