Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, in all honesty, it really is; but it’s also one of the most meaningful deeds you will ever take on.
Whether a person is stranded on the side of the road, looking for a certain section in the grocery store, needs assistance carrying a bag, has a question about how the process works at the DMV (by the way, let me know if you figure that one out), or maybe just needs someone to listen to their plight for a few minutes…the smallest gesture can have the greatest impact.
Someone said that we should cherish the little things in life because one day we’ll look back and realize they were actually the biggest things. It’s a humbling thought, and I believe it’s true.
If you want to make a difference in a truly positive way, then take the time to help someone today.
Swallow your pride, if that’s what it takes. Be two minutes later than you would have been arriving somewhere. Live, if only for a few moments, with compassion and purpose, and let another individual know that we’re all in this thing together.
You know that whole be the change you wish to see in the world thing…well, shift your perspective just a little and be the help you often times wish you had.
Your reward may be a simple thank you, or a smile, or in the case of the DMV, they might offer to buy you a steak dinner…but regardless of the size or scope of the karma that shoots back in your direction, know that for a little time, and in a very meaningful way, you made a difference to someone in need.
It doesn’t get any more noble than this, people. And you can make it happen just about any time you choose.
