Positively Optimistic

Positively Optimistic

There is a slight but significant distinction to be made between being a positive thinker and being an optimist. I wrote about optimism back in January in the post Optimize Your World, and I have been thinking lately of how the optimistic mindset is really one that transcends mere positive or happy thoughts that one would have and is really an extremely powerful belief system which manifests as a lifestyle. Positive thinking is powerful and it is a great place to start for anyone interested in experiencing more success in any part of [...]

Late Night Lesson

Late Night Lesson

Something really cool happened to me a couple of nights ago.  It was one of those times in my life where I realized that I was being taught a great lesson, even though the essence of the actual moment was very simple. As it sometimes works out in my house, I happened to be up late one night writing.  My little girl was in my bed for the night.  The kids pull the ol' switcheroo sometimes, so my son was already sawing Zzz's with my wife in one of the kid's rooms...both of our children are still young enough to get away with this, and to be [...]

All In

All In

If you're going to do something meaningful, then do it with everything you have within yourself.  Otherwise, don't bother. That's my version of the Hunter S. Thompson quote "anything worth doing is worth doing right".  And I say not only is it worth doing right, but it is worthy of your best and most soulful effort. Mediocrity is the result most consistent with half-hearted attempts.  When I was growing up, my father would refer to it as doing something "half-assed".  If you look hard enough, you can actually find a definition for [...]

Just Add Levity

Just Add Levity

Anger is a pretty terrible thing.  It can eat you up from the inside, and it can cause you to say things or do things that you wouldn't normally say or do.  And it almost always ends up leaving someone hurting in its wake;  at the very least in an emotional sense and of course in a worst case scenario it can even leave someone reeling physically. It's just not a good feeling to have and when it rears its ugly head, it should be dealt with swiftly and seriously. I recently posted a couple of quotes on my Facebook Fan Page, which by the [...]

Today, We Die!

Today, We Die!

How can we start to enjoy the fullness of life and experience the abundance that surrounds us?  How is it that we can really begin to live the way that we were created to live? Well, by dying, of course. Okay, not dying in the traditional sense of the word.  Although, because we are spiritual beings, that may be when the fun really starts...who knows? No, the dying I'm talking about is that surrender of self, that letting go of the ego, that relinquishing of total control.  You know, the really, really hard thing to do! I talked [...]

Big Decision

Big Decision

Today and every day you can make the conscious decision to be positive. From the moment you are awake, you can decide that you will look at things optimistically, and that you will be happy.  And when you do this, you will begin to see how wonderful your life is.  You will observe more to be thankful for, and you will experience living in the moment.  You will also be giving those around you a wonderful gift. And it really is that simple. It doesn't always seem to be simple however, because most of us have become accustom to [...]

Sweet Surrender

Sweet Surrender

If you are one of those people that have interest in learning how to manifest your desires and create the life that you believe you are entitled to live, then you probably have at least a couple of lists outlining the necessary steps to achievement.   And, you have no doubt read or heard the phrase "Let go" mentioned as a key part of the manifesting process.  It sounds great, but feels a little funny. If you have ever struggled with something in your life that seemed too big or overwhelming for you to deal with, and you sought the help [...]

Self Reflection

Self Reflection

Below is one of the poems that I remember finding in my dad's office when I was a kid, and I always thought it was great.  Reading it today not only reminds me a bit of my youth, but it also reminds me of the important lessons that a father teaches his son.  The lessons that all parents can teach their kids. The poem itself is anonymous.  It really speaks to the concept of being honest with yourself and how at the end of the day, nothing else really matters.  Because truthfully, if you achieve results in any other way than being honest [...]

Shut Up and Say That Again

Shut Up and Say That Again

There are times when life can be pretty frustrating. If you are going through a difficult time and not seeing the kind of results that you have hoped for, it can also be downright discouraging. And when you're feeling frustrated or discouraged there is nothing quite as grating on the soul as the guy or gal who gets right in your face and tells you to "just have faith", "power through", or "stay positive". While the words that are being spoken are good ones and the intention of the messenger are probably noble, the nature of the [...]

Great Start

Great Start

Today has been a truly wonderful day, and it all started with a little gratefulness. I learned a long time ago that the best way to greet any morning is with a thankful spirit.  And even though I have applied this many times, it still amazes me every time I do. When you are thankful for your life and the blessings you have, and you start the day by getting lost in that feeling, life has a miraculous way of delivering back to you even more things to be thankful for throughout your day.  It is one of the greatest things you will ever do [...]
